I'm dedicated to helping organizations, and the people who work within them, to cope with the new VUCA envirorment, providing participative organization development programs to improve self-motivation, leadership, teamwork and clarity within companies and, in the same time, avoiding academic and touchy-feely activities that plague too many training sessions.
The problem with training is it presumes the need for indoctrination on systems, processes and techniques. Traditional training assumes that said systems, processes and techniques are the right way to do things. When a trainer refers to something as “best practices” you can with great certitude rest assured that’s not the case.
The majority of training takes place within a monologue (lecture/presentation) rather than a dialogue. Perhaps worst of all, training usually occurs within a vacuum driven by past experience, not by future needs. Training focuses on best practices, while development focuses on next practices.
I present a state−of−the−art or the subject matters in such a way that it corresponds to the VUCA life experience of the learners, builds upon their knowledge, meets their professional needs and facilitates learning.
VUCA Learning not only means to acquire new knowledge and skills, but even the capability to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in concrete situations and by doing so, develop competence. A people development program which fails to assist the learners in acquiring knowledge and competence has not achieved its objectives. My learning principle is testing, not banking of knowledge.
A VUCA Learning process may take more time because by its very nature it calls for theactive involvement of everybody. Nevertheless, it leads to concrete results: additional knowledge, new skills, changed attitudes.
